For continuous and intermittent theta burst stimulation, the most frequent stimulation intensity was 80% of the active MT. Most studies (92% of entries) did not report sufficient information to reproduce the stimulation intensity. Only a minority of studies (1.03% of entries) estimated the rTMS-induced electric field strengths. We formulate easy-to-follow recommendations to help scientists and clinicians report relevant information on stimulation intensity. Soil salinization severely inhibits plant growth, leading to a low crop yield. The aim of the current study was to isolate endophytic bacteria with the ability to promote rice growth under saline conditions. We isolated eight salt-tolerant endophytic bacteria from rice roots. An isolated strain D1 was selected due to its ability to stimulate rice seed germination in the presence of NaCl, which was identified as Pantoea ananatis D1. It exhibited multiple plant growth-promoting traits including phosphate solubilization, production of indole-3-acetic acid, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase and siderophore. Inoculation of P. ananatis D1 obviously enhanced the rice root and shoot growth under normal and saline conditions. It also significantly increased the contents of chlorophyll, total soluble protein, and proline in salt-stressed rice seedlings. Moreover P. ananatis D1 could ameliorate the oxidative stress in rice induced by NaCl and Na CO treatment. The malondialdehyde content and various antioxidant enzyme activities were decreased by P. ananatis D1 inoculation in salt-affected rice. In addition, P. ananatis D1 showed a positive potential for limiting the Na accumulation and enhancing the K uptake, leading to an increase of 1·2-1·7 fold in K /Na ratio under saline environment. Essential oils and their constituents have received increasing attention for lipid-lowering properties in both cell and animal models. Despite the chemical diversity of essential oil compounds, the effects of many of these compounds on cholesterol metabolism are highly similar. In this report, we review the literature regarding the effects of essential oils and their terpenoid constituents on cholesterol homeostasis, and explore likely mechanisms using protein-ligand docking. We identified 98 experimental and seven clinical studies on essential oils, isolated compounds, and blends; 100 of these described improvements either in blood cholesterol levels or in sterol metabolic pathways. Our review and docking analysis confirmed two likely mechanisms common to many essential oil compounds (1) direct agonism of peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptors, and (2) direct interaction with sterol-sensing domains, motifs found in key sterol regulatory proteins including sterol regulatory element binding protein cleavage activating protein and HMG-CoA reductase. Notably, these direct interactions lead to decreased transcription and accelerated degradation of HMG-CoA reductase. Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have been reported to promote revascularization; however, the underlying cellular mechanism remains unclear. Moreover, our liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry results showed that BMSCs could promote the expression of insulin gene enhancer binding protein-1 (ISL1) in islets. ISL1 is involved in islets proliferation and plays a potential regulatory role in the revascularization of islets. This study identifies the ISL1 protein as a potential modulator in BMSCs-mediated revascularization of islet grafts. We demonstrated that the survival rate and insulin secretion of islets were increased in the presence of BMSCs, indicating that BMSCs promote islet revascularization in a coculture system and rat diabetes model. Interestingly, we also observed that the presence of BMSCs led to an increase in ISL1 and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) expression in both islets and the INS-1 rat insulinoma cell line. In silico protein structure modeling indicated that ISL1 is a transcription factor that has four binding sites with VEGFA mRNA. Further results showed that overexpression of ISL1 increased both the abundance of VEGFA transcripts and protein accumulation, while inhibition of ISL1 decreased the abundance of VEGFA. Using a ChIP-qPCR assay, we demonstrated that direct molecular interactions between ISL1 and VEGFA occur in INS-1 cells. Together, these findings reveal that BMSCs promote the expression of ISL1 in islets and lead to an increase in VEGFA in islet grafts.
