The aim of the present study was to determine whether the anti-CCP antibody was present in patients with psoriasis with and without arthritis. and to determine whether its presence was associated with clinical, serological and treatment data in patients with PsA. The present study was a cross-sectional study, which included 91 patients with psoriasis (41 with arthritis and 48 without arthritis) as well as an age and sex matched control group consisting of 100 healthy individuals. Presence of the anti-CCP antibody was determined using commercially available ELISA kits. Data on clinical, serological and treatment characteristics was obtained from reviewing each patient's medical history. The quality of life and articular inflammatory activity were assessed using the Short Form Health Survey-12 questionnaire. Skin disease was evaluated using the Psoriasis Area Severity Index and body surface area. In the control group, 1% of individuals were positive for the anti-CCP antibody, whereas 17.5% of the psoriasis patients were positive (P0.05). In conclusion, 17.5% of patients with psoriasis and 20.9% of patients with PsA were positive for anti-CCP antibodies. The present study aimed to determine the association between hyperinsulinism, insulin resistance and the polymorphism of genes, including angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AGTR1), angiotensinogen (AGT), β2-adrenoreceptor (ADRB2) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL), in the Kazakh population. The design of the current research was a case-control study, involving 460 subjects (age range, 18-65 years). The results suggested that LPL Ser447Ter (rs328) allele G was associated with a lower risk of hyperinsulinism (P=0.037). Furthermore, polymorphisms of genes ADRB2 Gln27Glu (rs1042714), AGT Thr174Met (rs4762) and AGTR1 A1166C (rs5186) were not associated with hyperinsulinism and insulin resistance in the Kazakh population. No interaction was identified between LPL Ser447Ter, ADRB2 Gln27Glu, AGT Thr174Met and AGTR1 A1166C. The expression of genes in SCs undergo a series of changes, which greatly affect the proliferation and apoptosis of SCs as well as the fate of peripheral nerve regeneration. However, how do these genes regulate the proliferation and apoptosis of SCs remains unclear. SPP1 and PKCα were found upregulated after human median peripheral nerve injury, which promoted SCs proliferation and survival. The promoted proliferation and inhibited apoptosis by SPP1 were blocked after the treatment of PKCα antagonist Gö6976. Whereas, the inhibited proliferation and enhanced apoptosis induced by silence of SPP1 could be rescued by the activation of PKCα, which suggested that SPP1 functioned through PKCα. Moreover, both CD44 and αvβ3 were found expressed in SCs and increased after peripheral nerve injury. Silence of CD44 or β3 alleviated the increased proliferation and inhibited apoptosis induced by recombinant osteopontin, suggesting the function of SPP1 on SCs were dependent on CD44 and β3. These results suggested that SPP1 promoted proliferation and inhibited apoptosis of SCs through PKCα signaling pathway by binding with CD44 and αvβ3. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of central stimulant (CS) treatment on suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviour in patients with a pre-existing diagnosis of BD or schizoaffective disorder (SZD). Specifically, we tested the hypothesis that CS treatment significantly decreased the number of suicide attempts and non-suicidal self-injury events. A mirror-image study in patients with a dual diagnosis of BD or SZD and ADHD, comparing suicide attempts and non-suicidal self-injury events within 6 months and 2 years before and after CS initiation.
