Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) is a subtropical fruit, widely grown in China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. Longan has a high commercial value, US$242,200 of dried longan fruits are exported to the United States from Taiwan every year (Wang et al. 2010). A soil sample from a longan orchard located in Changhua County, Taiwan (24.0162657, 120.529-1457) was collected in June 2019. Sheathoid nematodes were the dominant species in this sample and over 40 adult individuals per 100 g soil were found. In December 2019, sheathoid nematodes were collected again from the same tree and processed for identification by morphological and molecular characteristics. Nematodes were extracted using the modified Baermann funnel method (Wu et al. 2010) for 24 h. The morphometric data from fifteen females with variant tail types were taken. All individuals had a closely sheath, lip region set off with two annuli, stylet frequently slightly dorsally curved with rounded knobs, no vulval flaps, tail narrowing to a broadly rounded teres as H. litchi. Hemicriconemoides spp. is associated with root malformation and nutrient deficiencies on agricultural fruit trees (Milne et al. 1971; McSorley et al. 1980); however, aboveground evidence of damage may not become immediately obvious and the importance of sheathoid nematodes is easily overlooked (Chen et al. 2011). This is the first report of H. litchi as a parasite of longan tree in Taiwan.The root and stem bark essential oils from Isolona dewevrei (Annonaceae), growing wild in Côte d'Ivoire, were investigated for the first time, using a combination of chromatographic [CC, GC(RI)] and spectroscopic [MS, 13C-NMR] techniques. A new natural germacrone was isolated by repetitive column chromatography carried out on a stem bark oil sample. Its structure was elucidated as germacra-1(10),4(15),5-trien-8-one by 1 D, 2 D-NMR and QTOF-MS. Ninety-six components accounting for 95.5 ± 0.8% and 95.8 ± 1.0%, respectively, for the root and stem bark essential oil samples were identified. The major compounds of root oil were cyperene (19.7 ± 1.6%) and camphene (10.1 ± 2.1%), followed by 5-isopentenylindole (6.4 ± 2.4%), β-elemene (3.9 ± 0.3%), (Z)-α-bisabolene (3.2 ± 1.2%) and γ-gurjunene (3.2 ± 0.3%). The stem bark oil was also dominated by cyperene (29.2 ± 4.1%), followed by β-elemene (6.2 ± 1.1%), (Z)-α-bisabolene (3.8 ± 1.0%), (E)-β-caryophyllene (3.3 ± 0.7%) and α-copaene (2.8 ± 1.1%).Background Although previous cohort studies of women with multiple sclerosis (MS) yielded a reduction in relapse rate during pregnancy, the effect size has not been quantified in a comprehensive manner. In addition, the effects on disability progression and peripartum outcomes have been controversial. The purpose of this work is to assess the effect of pregnancy on disease activity, and to assess the effects of MS on pregnancy as well. Materials & methods We searched in PubMed, Cochrane Library and EMBASE for cohort studies dealing with the effects of pregnancy on relapse rates, disability progression and peripartum outcomes in women with MS. The evaluated outcomes were changes in the annualized relapse rate (ARR) in pregnancy and puerperium, disability worsening compared with the year before pregnancy, and peripartum outcomes, which were compared with the ones of non-MS women. In the majority of cohorts included here, the women were not under disease modifying therapies during pregnancy. Results We found 23 omes are not very different from those of non-MS women in most cohorts. This study compared the effects of posterior fixation (PF) of the remnant tube with fibrin tissue glue to prevent sharp angulation and gastric twist and traditional techniques on postoperative dysphagia and vomiting. In total, 200 patients scheduled to undergo laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) as a bariatric surgical intervention were randomly classified into 2 groups (LSG + PF and LSG alone). To assess the influence of field of view (FOV) size, scanning position within the FOV and scanning mode on the detection of root fracture and artifact perception. Forty single-rooted premolars restored with NiCr and AgPd posts were divided into two groups fractured and sound. All teeth were scanned using four CBCT scanning protocols varying FOV sizes (80 × 80 mm and 50 × 55 mm) and scanning modes (Standard and High Definition). The sample was positioned within the FOV in two pre-set positions (central and lateral) and in four positions established by the operator (quadrants). Detection of root fracture and artifact perception were assessed by two observers using 5-point and 4-point scales. Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and AUC values were calculated and compared by ANOVA two-way and Tukey's test. Chi-square and Fisher's exact test were used to assess artifact perception. The level of significance was set at p < 0.05. The central position within the FOV presented higher sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and AUC values and differed from the lateral position within the FOV for the studied metal posts (p<0.05).
