In vitro animal models using resveratrol indicated protective effects on the heart by neutralizing reactive oxygen species, preventing inflammation, increasing neoangiogenesis, dilating blood vessels, suppressing apoptosis and delaying atherosclerosis. In this review, we are presenting experimental and clinical results of studies concerning resveratrol effects on cardiac fibrosis as a CVD outcome in humans.Lupus nephritis (LN) is a severe renal comorbidity associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a complex autoimmune disorder with high morbidity and mortality. Diagnosis and monitoring of LN patients still rely on renal biopsy, a procedure that exposes patients to a variety of risks and is not capable of providing longitudinally information about disease prognosis. In this review, we summarized current data of recent promising biomarkers developed in the precision medicine era, particularly under genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic techniques. Genome-wide association-studies have been evaluating the role of endogenous elements beyond the autoimmunity in LN. Transcriptomic methods, including single-cell sequencing, are potential tools in identifying inflammatory signatures, miRNAs and gene expression. Proteomic measures, including anti-C1q antibodies, cytokines, TLRs, VCAM-1, NGAL osteopontin, angiostatin, have been considered helpful to provide a more profound comprehension of the disease pathogenic processes. Metabolomic approaches may identify several abnormal metabolites profiles related with the impairment of cellular functions. Together, these accurate, non-invasive and moderate-cost propedeutic resources may be the novel tools for recognizing, distinguishing and predicting LN progression and prognosis. Furthermore, omics evaluation may also predict responsiveness to treatment and, consequently, change the way we manage LN cases in the near future. The Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) comprises a complex molecular cascade with two counter-regulatory axes, the classical and the alternative. Angiotensin II and Angiotensin-(1-7), the main peptides of the RAS, exert opposite effects in multiple organs and systems, including the cardiovascular, renal, pulmonary and immune systems. Strong evidence supports the hypothesis of a local RAS in the Central Nervous System (CNS) and its modulatory roles in neuroendocrinology and neurotransmission. In this narrative review, we provide a comprehensive approach on experimental and clinical data regarding RAS molecules expression and possible roles in physiology and physiopathology of CNS diseases. This non-systematic review summarizes evidence on RAS implications in CNS diseases and its possible relationships with COVID-19. We divided the possible RAS mechanisms in distinct conditions during lifespan, approaching from congenital infections to neurodegenerative alterations, passing through mood disorders and cerebrovascular diseases. We also gathered current evidence about the possible effects of RAS in Covid-19, particularly the described cases that course with neurological manifestations. Although there are limitations and controversies, the analysis of RAS mechanisms in the CNS certainly represents an interesting field of research. However, further investigation is necessary to support the noteworthy interactions and provide a better comprehension of the cross-talk between RAS and the CNS. Clinical examination revealed subcutaneous masses in the left prescapular and right inguinal regions, mild ataxia, a slight head tilt to the right, and right ear droop. The cria died before clinical workup was complete. At autopsy, there was generalized lymphadenomegaly, a hepatic nodule, a midbrain mass causing rostral compression of the cerebellum, and internal hydrocephalus. Microscopic findings included pyogranulomatous lymphadenitis, meningoencephalitis, hepatitis, and bronchopneumonia. Intralesional fungal spherules, most consistent with Coccidioides spp., were identified in the lymph nodes, lung, and brain. Fungal culture, single-nucleotide variation genotyping real-time PCR, and DNA sequencing confirmed Coccidioides posadasii. The dam of the cria was native to Arizona and had been moved to Missouri ~2.5 y previously. Agar gel immunodiffusion assay of the herd revealed that only the dam was positive for Coccidioides spp.; 6 herdmates were negative. Computed tomography of the dam revealed multiple nodules within the lungs and liver, which were presumed to be an active coccidioidomycosis infection. This case of systemic coccidioidomycosis in a llama native to Missouri was presumably acquired by vertical transmission from the dam.Fatigue was a frequently reported adverse event associated with the use of PARP inhibitors. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to fully investigate the fatigue of PARP inhibitors in cancer patients. Databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) treated with PARP inhibitors till July 2020. Cisplatinum Twenty-nine RCTs and 9479 patients were included. This meta-analysis suggests that the use of PARP inhibitors significantly increase the risk of developing all-grade (RR, 1.25; 95%CI, 1.20-1.31; p less then 0.00001; I2 = 48%) and high-grade fatigue (RR, 1.92; 95%CI, 1.51-2.45; p less then 0.00001; I2 = 11%). Veliparib was associated with a relatively lower risk of fatigue. Patients with ovarian cancer tend to be associated with a higher risk of fatigue than those with non-ovarian cancer. Longer duration of therapy was associated with a higher risk of all-grade fatigue. Patients receiving PARP inhibitor monotherapy tends to be associated with a higher risk of all-grade fatigue than those receiving combination treatment.
