It can cause immune suppression, neurotoxicity, the apoptosis of cells and even induce tumorigenesis. Recent studies have indicated that selenium (Se) have protective effect against mycotoxins-induced toxicity. The present studies was designed to investigate the protective role of Selenomethionine (SeMet) on T-2 toxin-induced toxicity in rabbit's jejunum. 50 New Zealand rabbits were divided into five group (Control group, T-2 group, low-dose Se + T-2 group, medium-dose + T-2 group and high-dose Se + T-2 group). SMS121 New Zealand rabbits were orally administered with SeMet (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mg/kg, Adding diet) for 21 days. On 17th days, each group began to take 0.4 mg/kg of T-2 toxin orally every day for 5 days. We found that rabbit exposed to T-2 toxin could increase the levels of ROS, and decrease activities of antioxidant enzymes and the expression of Occludin and ZO-1. In addition, T-2 toxin could trigger jejunal inflammatory response and enhance the expression of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α. After SeMet pretreatment, our results indicated that Se attenuated the T-2 toxin-induced oxidative stress, decreasing the level of ROS, MDA and enhancing the activity of SOD and GSH-Px. Moreover, SeMet can alleviate jejunal inflammatory response, and protect the integrity of the intestinal barrier through up-regulating the expression of ZO-1 and Occludin. In the present research, supplementation of 0.2 mg/kg SeMet in the diet could effectively alleviate the T-2 toxin poisoning in rabbits.The current work investigated the discriminatory potential of MALDI-TOF MS fingerprinting towards most-relevant major (Streptococcus agalactiae, S. dysgalactiae, S. uberis) and minor (S. canis, S. parauberis, S. salivarius, S. equinus and S. gallolyticus) streptococci involved in bovine mastitis (BM), in comparison to 16S rRNA gene sequencing (GS)-based identification. The MALDI-TOF MS-generated spectral fingerprints were recruited for eliciting a detailed proteomic map that demonstrated clear variability for inter- and intra-species-specific biomarkers. Besides, a phyloproteomic dendrogram was evolved and comparatively analyzed against the phylogenetic one obtained from 16S rRNA GS in order to assess the differentiation of streptococci of bovine origin based on variability of protein fingerprints versus the variation of 16S rRNA gene homology. Results showed that the discrimination of BM-implicated streptococci can be obtained by both approaches; however MALDI-TOF MS was superior, achieving more variability at both intra- and sub-species levels. MALDI-TOF MS spectral analytics revealed that Streptococcus spp. exhibited three genus-specific biomarkers (peaks with m/z values at 2112, 4452 and 5955) and all streptococci exhibited spectral variability at both species and subspecies levels. Remarkably, MALDI-TOF MS fingerprinting was found to be at least as robust as 16S rRNA GS-based identification, allowing much cheaper and faster analysis, and additionally exhibiting high reliability for characterization of BM-implicated streptococci, thus proving to be a powerful tool that can be used independently within dairy diagnostics.Furfural has been produced in 53% isolated yield from d-xylose within an aqueous HCl-1,2-dichloroethane biphasic reaction mixture using benzyltributylammonium chloride (BTBAC) as a phase transfer catalyst. The use of BTBAC noticeably improved the yield of furfural compared to that in the control reaction. The reaction was optimized on the reaction temperature, duration, concentration of HCl, and the loading of BTBAC. Furfural and 5-(chloromethyl)furfural (CMF) have also been coproduced from a mixture of pentose and hexose sugars. Under optimized conditions (100 °C, 3 h, 20.2% HCl, 10 wt% BTBAC), CMF and furfural were isolated in 17% and 53% yield, respectively, from a mixture of glucose and xylose. The administration of topical BPQ-SNEDDS gels for 7 days resulted in a reduction of parasite load of 99.989 ± 0.019% similar to the decrease achieved with intralesionally administered Glucantime® (99.873 ± 0.204%) in a L. amazonensis BALB/c model. In vivo efficacy was supported by ex vivo permeability and in vivo tape stripping studies.
