Drinking water disinfection may result in the formation of different classes of toxic disinfection by-products (DBPs). Haloacetamides (HAcAms) are an emerging class of nitrogenous DBPs (N-DBPs), which are generally more prevalent at lower concentrations in disinfected water than carbonaceous DBPs. Herein a fast, convenient, and effective method of analyzing 10 HAcAms in drinking water samples was demonstrated. This method was developed using gas chromatography /electron capture detection (GC/ECD) supplemented with automated solid phase extraction (auto-SPE). The variables for automated SPE procedures were further optimized, including the selection of SPE sorbents, types and volumes of extraction solvents, SPE washing solvents and wash times. The limits of detection and quantification of this method were 0.002-0.003 μg L-1 and 0.005-0.010 μg L-1, respectively. In this short communication, we studied the effect of an organic modifier in the sample solvent on the solubility of different tryptic glycopeptides of hemopexin and haptoglobin proteins. The results showed that the solubility of glycopeptides in solvents with a high acetonitrile content depends on the type of attached N-glycan. We observed lower solubility in larger glycans attached to the same peptide backbone, and we demonstrated that glycopeptides containing sialic acids precipitate more readily than those without sialic acid. Studying fricative production in children with CIs allows to study how the partial transmission of speech sounds by cochlear implants influences children's speech production, and therefore to explore how perceptual abilities influence the late stages of phonological development. This acoustic study focuses on fricative production at three places of articulation (i.e., /f/, /s/ and /ʃ/), comparing productions by two groups of children (20 children with normal hearing (NH) vs. 13 children with CIs, all aged 5;7 to 10;7 years), and taking into accothat age span. The results also show that the acquisition of coarticulation strategies can be impeded by degraded or delayed access to audio.The performance of a whey protein hydrolysate (WPH) for producing physically and chemically stable omega-3 emulsions was compared to hydrolysates obtained from other sustainable protein sources such as soy (SPH) and blue whiting (BPH). The oxidative stability of hydrolysate-stabilized emulsions was greatly influenced by their physical stability. Emulsion stabilized with BPH suffered a constant increase in droplet size and BPH was not able to prevent omega-3 oxidation, showing high concentration of volatiles. The peroxide value of SPH emulsion increased after the first day of storage, but it had a lower concentration of volatiles. In contrast, WPH-stabilized emulsion, which did not had any change in droplet size during storage, showed the highest oxidative stability. In this system, streptavidin (SA) was selected as a linker between biotinylated anti-AFM1-monoantibody (bio-mAb) and biotinylated GOx (bio-GOx) to form the immunocomplexes bio-mAb-SA-bio-GOx. After the oxidation of the glucose and I-, the resultant I2 could etch cetytrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-stabilized AuNRs. This resulted in the blue shift of the longitudinal localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) extinction peak, with a color change from blue to pink. The linear range and limit of detection (LOD) of the plasmonic immunoassay were 0.25-10 ng mL-1 and 0.11 ng mL-1, respectively. Here using an integrative approach, we show that human sperm transcripts are equally important as oocyte. Sperm-specific and sperm-oocyte common transcripts carry distinct chromatin structures at their promoters correlating with corresponding transcript levels in sperm. Interestingly, sperm-specific H3K4me3 patterns at the lincRNA promoters are not maintained in the germ layers and somatic tissues. However, bivalent chromatin at the sperm-specific protein-coding gene promoters is maintained throughout the development. Sperm-specific transcripts reach their peak expression during zygotic genome activation, whereas sperm-oocyte common transcripts are present during early preimplantation development but decline at the onset of zygotic genome activation. Additionally, there is an inverse correlation between sperm-specific and sperm-oocyte lincRNAs throughout the development. Sperm-lincRNAs also show aberrant activation in tumors.
