We conclude that on these types of slippery surfaces, droplet lifetimes can be predicted and controlled by the droplet's volume and physical properties (density, diffusion coefficient, and vapor concentration difference to the vapor phase) largely independent of the precise value of contact angle. These results are relevant to applications, such as printing, spraying, coating, and other processes, where controlling droplet evaporation and drying is important.A highly efficient strategy for the construction of CF3-substituted 1,6-dihydropyridazines has been developed by cascade oxidation/cyclization of trifluoromethylated N-acylhydrazines. The produced 1,6-dihydropyridazines could be easily transformed to 3-trifluoromethyl pyridazine derivatives. Some of the 1,6-dihydropyridazines exhibited aggregation-induced emission (AIE). DFT calculations were conducted to explain the mechanism.A family of iron(III) spin crossover complexes with different counteranions, [Fe(qsal-F)2]A (qsal-F = 4-fluoro-2-[(8-quinolylimino)methyl]phenolate; A = PF6-1, OTf-2, NO3-3, ClO4-4, BF4-5, or NCS-6) have been prepared. All compounds are isostructural and crystallize (triclinic P1̅ space group) with two independent iron(III) centers (Fe1 and Fe2) in the asymmetric unit. No solvent molecules are found in the crystal lattice, allowing us to directly probe the relative influence of anion variation on the spin crossover characteristics. The crystal packing is governed by three types of π-π interactions (type A, type B, and type C), which form undulating 1D chains. Additional interactions (π-F, C-H···O/F, and P4AE) connect the neighboring chains to form a complex supramolecular network. Hirshfeld surface analysis supports these findings. Biricodar The anions are located between the cationic [Fe(qsal-F)2]+ chains; hence, similar interchain distances (dchain) are observed irrespective of the anion. However, the interplane distances (dplane) are influenced by the crystal packing and increase proportionally with the anion size. Magnetic studies reveal that smaller anions tend to stabilize the low-spin state (NO3-3, ClO4-4, and BF4-5), while larger anions (PF6-1 and OTf-2) exhibit lower transition temperatures (Tonset for 1 = 200 K and T for 2 = 190 K) and gradual spin crossovers. The anomaly is 6, where, despite having the smallest anion, it exhibits the lowest transition temperature with magnetic hysteresis in the first step (T1/2↑ = 170 K and T1/2↓ = 157 K). This suggests the size, shape, and supramolecular connectivity of the anion all influence the magnetic properties.Floxuridine (FUdR, 5-fluoro-2-deoxyuridine) was widely used in patients with tumor. But the poor activity and severe side effects have been observed in the clinic, which resulted from increased degradation cleavage of FUdR to 5-FU by thymidine phosphorylase and reduced transporter-mediated entry into cells. In this study, we have synthesized a series of l-aspartic acid β-esters and l-glutamic acid γ-esters of FUdR to improve the metabolic stability of FUdR and target FUdR to cancer cells via amino acid transporter ATB0,+ which was exclusively up-regulated in some cancerous tissue. The uptake mechanism, stability, in vitro/in vivo antiproliferation action, pharmacokinetics, and tissue distribution were studied. The combined results showed the unusual 5'-β-l-Asp-FUdR possessed a better tumor inhibition rate and a better metabolic stability than FUdR through a ATB0,+-mediated prodrug approach. The present study provided the first proof-of-concept of exploiting ATB0,+ for tumor-selective delivery of nucleoside analogues in the form of prodrug.Apart from being considered a potential threat to ecosystems and human health, the ubiquity of microplastics presents analytical challenges. There is a high risk of sample contamination during sampling, sample preparation, and analysis. In this study, the potential of sample contamination or misinterpretation due to substances associated with disposable laboratory gloves or reagents used during sample preparation was investigated. Leachates of 10 different types of disposable gloves were analyzed using Raman microspectroscopy (μ-Raman), Fourier-transform infrared microspectroscopy (μ-FTIR), and pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (pyr-GC/MS). There appeared to be polyethylene (PE) in almost all investigated glove leachates and with all applied methods. Closer investigations revealed that the leachates contained long-chain compounds such as stearates or fatty acids, which were falsely identified as PE by the applied analytical methods. Sodium dodecyl sulfate, which is commonly applied in microplastic research during sample preparation, may also be mistaken for PE. Therefore, μ-Raman, μ-FTIR, and pyr-GC/MS were further tested for their capability to distinguish among PE, sodium dodecyl sulfate, and stearates. It became clear that stearates and sodium dodecyl sulfates can cause substantial overestimation of PE.A 70-year-old man visited a private hospital with the chief complaint of right lower limb pain. Fluorodeoxyglucose-emission tomography (FDG-PET) showed abnormal uptake in the pubic bone, right femur, and ascending colon. The patient was referred to our hospital for further evaluation. The following tumor marker levels were found prostate-specific antigen (PSA) 20.57 ng/ml, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) 108.5 ng/ml, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) 1,002.1 U/ml. An open pubic bone biopsy was performed. The pathological diagnosis was metastatic adenocarcinoma from prostate cancer. Prostate and ascending colon cancers were clinically diagnosed as T2bN0M1b and T2N0M0, respectively. Laparoscopic colectomy was performed. Androgen deprivation therapy started immediately and the serum PSA level was maintained at less then 0.2 ng/ml during the follow-up period. However, the CEA and CA19-9 were higher than the normal level 2 years after the surgery. In addition, the FDG-PET revealed abnormal uptake in the pubic bone. Thus, a pubic bone biopsy was performed again. The histological diagnosis was metastatic adenocarcinoma from the ascending colon cancer. Although the patient received combination chemotherapy, he died of colon cancer.
