Sanwei-Tanxiang powder (SWTX), a traditional Mongolian and Tibetan medicine containing a cocktail of active molecules, relieves angina pectoris and improves recovery in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). The pharmacological effect of SWTX on CHD was analyzed at a systemic point of view in our previous studies. The bioinformatics prediction showed that the PI3K/Akt/FoxO3a pathway was one of important pathways of SWTX on treatment of coronary heart disease. Based on it, the aim of this study was to evaluate the benefits of SWTX in acute myocardial ischemic-reperfused (MIR) rat in vivo and H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells under oxidative stress induced by H2O2 in vitro, and further investigate the involvement of PI3K/Akt/FoxO3a pathway in these processes. Ex vivo, under physiological conditions, SWTX did not show any modification in the heart rate and contraction amplitude. However, against a MIR injury, SWTX pretreatment provided significant protection, including reduced ST-segment elevation, pathological changes and myocardial infarct size in vivo, meanwhile, some monomers of SWTX showed antioxidant capacity and inhibited cardiomyocytic apoptosis in vitro. The effect was correlated with the activation of the PI3K/Akt/FoxO3a signaling pathway downstream and the regulation of downstream pro-apoptotic Bim of FoxO3a experimental verified by qRT-PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescent assay. In vitro, blocking Akt and p-FoxO3a activation with the PI3K inhibitor LY294002 effectively suppressed the protective effects of several active monomers (including quercetin, macelignan, methyleugenol and Santol) of SWTX against H2O2-induced injury. Collectively, these results suggest that SWTX decreases I/R injury, and the PI3K/Akt/FoxO3a pathway takes part in protection during this process, gallogen (G3) and quercetin (G8) of GZ, methyleugenol (R2) and macelignan (R7) of RDK, santol (T1) of TX are responsible at least in part for SWTX's cardioprotection effect.Soil microbial communities represent the largest biodiversity on Earth, holding an important role in promoting plant growth and productivity. However, the knowledge about how soil factors modulate the bacteria community structure and distribution in tropical regions remain poorly understood, mainly in different cowpea producing ecoregions belonging to Northeastern Brazil. This study addressed the bacterial community along three different ecoregions (Mata, Sertão, and Agreste) through the16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results showed that soil factors, such as Al3+, sand, Na+, cation exchange excel, and total organic C, influenced the bacterial community and could be a predictor of the distinct performance of cowpea production. Also, the bacterial community changed between different ecoregions, and some keystone groups related to plant-growth promotion, such as Bradyrhizobium, Bacillales, Rhizobiales, and Solibacillus, were correlated to cowpea yield, so revealing that the soil microbiome has a primordial role in plant productivity. Here, we provide evidence that bacterial groups related to nutrient cycling can help us to increase cowpea efficiency and we suggest that a better microbiome knowledge can contribute to improving the agricultural performance.Hypertension is one of the most prevalent cardiovascular diseases and its treatment requires multimodal therapeutic approaches. This review aims to provide a summary and update on relevant evidence in hypertension research published in 2019/2020. These include trials dealing with the prognostic effect of systolic and diastolic blood pressure values, the association between hypertension and valve disease, reproducibility of masked and white-coat hypertension, and the prognostic importance of ambulatory and night-time blood pressure measurements. Treatment of hypertension focusing on elderly patients but also the potential cancer risk of thiazide diuretics, the valsartan recall, chronotherapy, and device-based hypertension therapy are discussed.Marek's disease virus (MDV) encodes a basic-leucine zipper (BZIP) protein, Meq, which is considered the major MDV oncoprotein. It has been reported that the oncogenicity of Meq is associated with its interaction with C-terminal binding protein 1 (CtBP), which is also an interaction partner of Epstein-Barr virus encoded EBNA3A and EBNA3C oncoproteins. Since both EBNA3C and CtBP interact with histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and HDAC2, we examined whether Meq shares this interaction with chicken HDAC1 (chHDAC1) and chHDAC2. Using confocal microscopy analysis, we show that Meq co-localizes with chHDAC1 and chHDAC2 in the nuclei of MDV lymphoblastoid tumor cells. In addition, immunoprecipitation assays demonstrate that Meq interacts with chHDAC1 and chHDAC2 in transfected cells and MDV lymphoblastoid tumor cells. L-α-Phosphatidylcholine chemical Using deletion mutants, interaction domains were mapped to the N-terminal dimerization domain of chHDAC1 and chHDAC2, and the BZIP domain of Meq. Our results further demonstrate that this interaction mediates the degradation of chHDAC1 and chHDAC2 via the proteasome dependent pathway. In addition, our results show that Meq also induces the reduction of global ubiquitinated proteins through a proteasome dependent pathway. In conclusion, our results provide evidence that Meq interacts with chHDAC1 and chHDAC2, and induces their proteasome dependent degradation.Inflammation promotes tumor progression, induces invasion and metastatic spread. This retrospective study explored CRP, CA19-9, and routine laboratory values as preoperative prognostic factors in pancreatic cancer patients. Between 2000 and 2016, there were 212 surgically treated pancreatic cancer patients at Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. Out of these, 76 borderline resectable patients were treated with neoadjuvant therapy (NAT); 136 upfront resected patients were matched for age and sex at a 12 ratio. We analyzed preoperative CRP, CA19-9, CEA, leukocytes, albumin, bilirubin and platelets. CRP and CA19-9 were combined into a prognostic score both CRP and CA19-9 below the cut-off values (3 mg/l and 37 kU/l, respectively), either CRP or CA19-9 above the cut-off value, and finally, both CRP and CA19-9 above the cut-off values. Among all patients, median disease-specific survival times were 54, 27 and 16 months, respectively (p  less then  0.001). At 5 years, among patients with CRP and CA19-9 levels below the cut-off values, 49% were alive and 45% were disease-free.
