The objective of this study was to summarize the prevalence, type and risk factors for cutaneous adverse events related to PPE and prevention measures to avoid them. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted using MEDLINE, Scopus and EMBASE databases from conception to 21 January 2021. All types of epidemiological studies regarding skin adverse events related to PPE were included. The literature search identified 1007 references, 35 of them met the eligible criteria and were included for analysis, representing 31 453 participants. The media of skin side events related to PPE was 75.13%. The rate of cutaneous adverse events related to mask was 57.71%, and those associated with gloves and hand hygiene products was 49.16%. Most common skin adverse events were contact dermatitis, acne and itching. The most damaged anatomical regions were the nasal bridge, the cheeks and the hands. The duration of PPE wearing was the most common risk factor. Frequent handwashing, gloves and masks were the agents most frequently related to skin reactions. The successful implementation of this concept will have a wide impact in different fields, and specifically, maximize the diagnostic potential of the planar medical images. We investigated our premise using a well-characterized chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) cohort. In this cohort, planar scout images from computed tomography (CT) scans were used to compute lung volume and percentage of emphysema. Lung volume and percentage of emphysema were quantified on the volumetric CT images and used as the "ground truth" for developing the models to compute the variables from the corresponding scout images. We trained two classical convolutional neural networks (CNNs), including VGG19 and InceptionV3, to compute lung volume and the percentage of emphysema from the scout images. Advance care planning (ACP) is critically important for heart failure patients, yet important challenges exist. Group visits can be a helpful way to engage patients and caregivers in identifying values and preferences for future care in a resource-efficient way. We sought to evaluate the impact of group visits for ACP among older adults with heart failure and their caregivers on ACP-related outcomes. We conducted a mixed-methods pilot study evaluating the impact of an ACP group visit for older adults with heart failure and their caregivers on ACP-related outcomes including readiness and self-efficacy. The evidence-based PREPARE for Your Care video-based intervention was used to guide the group visits. Twenty patients and 10 caregivers attended one of the five 90-min group visits led by a trained facilitator. Group visit participants completed pre-, post-, and 1-month follow-up surveys using validated 5-point ACP readiness and self-efficacy scales.
