The rapid cultivation strategy of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) for simultaneous phenol degradation and ammonium oxidation was studied in a sequence batch reactor (SBR). The short-term inhibitory kinetics of phenol was studied through batch experiments. For the sodium acetate fed AGS, the phenol inhibition constants (Ki) of specific oxygen utilization rate by heterotrophic bacteria (SOURh) was 508.6 mg/L. The Ki of specific ammonium utilization rate (SAUR) was 232.3 mg/L. Fimepinostat ic50 After 28 days' acclimatization, the phenol and NH4+-N removal rates of the SBR reached 94.0% and 96.4% when the influent phenol and NH4+-N concentrations were 1000 and 33.5 mg/L, respectively. The phenol removal loading rate was 1.69 kg/(m3·d). For the mature phenol&ammonium degrading AGS, the polysaccharide (PS) and protein (PN) concentrations were 247.4 ± 10.3 and 68.6 ± 6.5 mg/g VSS, respectively. The functional groups analysis showed that the amount of OH, NH, CO and CC groups remained unchanged in the mature phenol&ammonium degrading AGS.In this research, a comprehensive and innovative method was established for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the main components in Mahonia fortune (MF). On the one hand, comprehensive insight of the constituents in MF extracts was achieved with a Q‑Exactive HF Mass Spectrometer using data-independent acquisition method. The identification of 17 compounds was based on comparison with authentic reference standards and the deduction of 119 additional compounds both in positive and negative modes was using the MS-dial strategy and comparison with literature data. The proportion of alkaloids and phenols were the most in MF. On the other hand, an ultra-performance liquid chromatographic-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS/MS) method for the quantification of 25 components in MF extract were developed and validated. The method established provided satisfactory precision and accuracy; acceptable recovery and stability; a good linearity and a reasonable limit of detection. The MF samples from 11 different sources were detected, and relative principal component analysis were applied to discriminate these samples. The variations of Columbamine, Jatrorrhizine, Palmatine and Berberine were suggested as important indicators of MF quality. This study supplies a novel and comprehensive method for the quality evaluation of MF. This research presents a MS based analytical strategy which shows an application potential in the analysis of the chemical constituents in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).A rapid and sensitive chiral liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for the enantioseparation and determination of clopidogrel bisulfate enantiomers in beagle plasma was established and successfully applied to a stereoselective pharmacokinetic study. The chromatographic separation was achieved on an Ultron ES-OVM column (150 × 2.0 mm, 5 μm) with acetonitrile-ammonium acetate (10 mM, pH 4.5) (2278, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. The mass detection was conducted using multiple reaction monitoring mode with the transition of the m/z 322.00→212.00 for clopidogrel and m/z 285.00→193.00 for diazepam (IS), respectively. The calibration curve was linear at the range of 1-800 ng/mL (r2>0.997) for each enantiomer. The intra- and inter-day precision (CV%) was within 10.9 % and the accuracy was at the range of 88.5 %-101.3 % for both enantiomers. The extraction recovery was >90.2 % and no obvious matrix effect was observed. The pharmacokinetic results showed that the R-CB have higher Cmax and AUC than that of S-CB. It is first time to find the chiral inversion between S-CB and R-CB in beagle. Understanding the kinematics of the spine in the interaction with an implanted device is of utmost importance from a clinical point of view. The characterization of the biomechanical movement of the spine occurring at each functional unit is a difficult task as it involves the measurement of complex patterns of motion while identifying more delicate abnormalities that could result in longer-term disease complications. Center of rotation is a biomechanical parameter that represents the ratio between rotation and translation. It has been recognized as a valid and reliable parameter to identify any delicate abnormal movement of the spine as opposed to the range of motion. However, center of rotation is still not widely used in clinical practice. In this study, an algorithm intended to easily identify an imbalanced spine through the center of rotation calculation and a new parameter called distance to the ellipse is presented. In this new approach the distance to the ellipse is a key parameter which represents the distance of the center of rotation lying outside the ellipse that represents the asymptomatic group, from the ellipse itself. The presented algorithm allows the comparison of pre-op and post-op outcomes, and the rapid identification of cases needing more attention. When a comprehensive analysis is required, a dashboard is provided with detailed information for each functional spine unit at each follow-up appointment. It is found that the new approach has the potential to become a new methodology in clinical practice. Biomechanical Study.Biomechanical Study. Using fewer distal screws in volar plate fixation of distal radius fractures could reduce treatment costs and complications. However, there is currently no consensus on the ideal screw configuration, likely due to experimental limitations and its subject-specific nature. In this study, finite element analysis was used to investigate (1) if reducing the number of screws is biomechanically feasible and (2) if an optimal screw configuration is subject-specific. Validated subject-specific finite element models of 16 human radii with extra articular distal radius fractures and volar plate fixation with six distal screws were used as a baseline. 41 additional configurations with three to six distal screws were simulated for each subject. Axial stiffness and peri-implant strains around the distal screws were evaluated. Subject-specific optimum configurations were determined using a lower bound for the axial stiffness and minimizing peri-implant strains. Even using three distal screws led to only minor deterioration of the biomechanical properties in the best configuration (axial stiffness -11.
