The in-vitro diagnostic industry is always striving to explore specific and high-affinity recognition entities, sensitive probes, and newer technology or platforms to develop disease detection methods with lower production and time costs and with minimum interference or variability. Aptamers suffice as a reliable recognition element by addressing the issues mentioned earlier. Hence, this work focuses on screening high-affinity ssDNA ligands to capture an exemplary biomarker CA125 using membrane-SELEX technology coupled with aptainformatics (translational bioinformatics using aptamers). The ssDNA ligands or aptamers have been screened and characterized extensively through an array of assays to ensure a valuable diagnostic potential with KD (dissociation constant) of 166 nM. The robustness of the selected aptamer ligand 2.26 and its complex with target CA125 is investigated in the presence of serum and extreme salt concentrations. Its diagnostic potential is convincingly demonstrated by running a competitive nucleic acid lateral flow assay at various sample concentrations. The ssDNA ligand reported in this manuscript holds immense potential in the detection and specific targeting of CA125 biomarker.The supercapacitor has been widely seen as one of the most promising emerging energy storage devices, by which electricity is converted from chemical energy and stored. Two-dimensional (2D) metal oxides/hydroxides (TMOs/TMHs) are revolutionizing the design of high-performance supercapacitors because of their high theoretical specific capacitance, abundance of electrochemically active sites, and feasibility for assembly in hierarchical structures by integrating with graphitic carbon, conductive polymers, and so on. The hierarchical structures achieved can not only overcome the limitations of using a single material but also bring new breakthroughs in performance. In this article, the research progress on 2D TMOs/TMHs and their use in hierarchical structures as supercapacitor materials are reviewed, including the evolution of supercapacitor materials, the configurations of hierarchical structures, the electrical properties regulated, and the existence of advantages and drawbacks. Finally, a perspective covering directions and challenges related to the development of supercapacitor materials is provided.The SiO-based composites containing different carbon structures were prepared from asphalt and graphite by the milling, spray drying, and pyrolysis. In the obtained near-spherical composite particles, the refined amorphous SiO plates, which are coated with an amorphous carbon layer, are aggregated with the binding of graphite sheets. The SiO/C/Graphite composites present a maximum initial charge capacity of 963 mAh g-1 at 100 mA g-1, excellent cyclic stability (~950 mAh g-1 over 100 cycles), and rate capability with the charge capacity of 670 mAh g-1 at 1,000 mA g-1. This significant improvement of electrochemical performances in comparison with pristine SiO or SiO/C composite is attributed to the unique microstructure, in which both the graphite sheets and amorphous carbon coating could enhance the conductivity of SiO and buffer the volume change of SiO. The higher pyrolysis temperature causes the denser spherical microstructure and better cycle life. Our work demonstrates the potential of this SiO/C/Graphite composite for high capacity anode of LIBs.Implantable optical sensing devices that can continuously monitor physiological temperature changes hold great potential toward applications in healthcare and medical field. Here, we present a conceptual foundation for the design of biocompatible temperature sensing device by integrating renal clearable luminescent gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with silk film (AuNPs-SF). We found that the AuNPs display strong temperature dependence in both near-IR fluorescence intensity and lifetime over a large temperature range (10-60°C), with a fluorescence intensity sensitivity of 1.72%/°C and lifetime sensitivity of 0.09 μs/°C.
