1% of the covariance between combat exposure and suicidal ideation. This study provides longitudinal evidence that the effects of combat exposure on suicidal ideation are mediated by PTSD symptom severity, suggesting the importance of targeting such symptoms in treatment to mitigate suicide risk among veterans with combat exposure. This study provides longitudinal evidence that the effects of combat exposure on suicidal ideation are mediated by PTSD symptom severity, suggesting the importance of targeting such symptoms in treatment to mitigate suicide risk among veterans with combat exposure. To explore the influence of experiences of involvement in the COVID-19 rescue task on professional identity among Chinese nurses from a qualitative method perspective. Professional identity of nurses is not static and easily affected by many factors. The COVID-19 epidemic brings the tremendous physical and psychological challenges for rescue nurses. At present, there are limited data on the influence of rescue experiences on the nurses' professional identity. This study used a face-to-face interview with semi-structured questions to learn about the influence of rescue experiences on the professional identity of nurses. Purposeful sampling was used to collect participants (n=14), and interview data were analysed following the Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis. The 'impression of exhaustion and fear', 'feeling the unfairness', 'perceiving incompetence in rescue task' and 'unexpected professional benefits' were the main factors affecting the professional identity of rescue nurses. The present study showed that special attention and targeted support measures should be provided to improve the professional identity of rescue nurses. Nurse managers should make a post-epidemic recovery plan to help nurses to improve the professional identity. Designed education programmes and complete disaster response system should be developed to deal with infection disease in the future.Nurse managers should make a post-epidemic recovery plan to help nurses to improve the professional identity. Plastic bronchitis (PB) is a rare, variable, and potentially fatal disease. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) and bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) in treating children with PB. In total, 15 children with PB, between 2012 and 2020, were enrolled in our study. Within 12 hours of admission, FOB and BAL were performed and reviewed under local anesthesia and sedation. Before and after FOB, clinical findings and chest imaging were evaluated. Regarding the onset of symptoms before FOB, all cases had prominent cough for 7.00 ± 4.55 days, and 14 had persistent high fever. In total, 13 cases had complete obstruction from bronchial casts, consistent with consolidated lesions; 2 had partial airway obstruction. Within 3 days, complete resolution was revealed in nine cases. Overall, six cases underwent repeated FOB (range, 2-3 times) for persistent atelectasis and airway obstruction. Except for two cases with type 2 PB, cast histology confirmed type 1 PB for all cases. Only eight children had minor intra- and post-procedure complications. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction for Mycoplasma pneumoniae in sputum and BAL samples were positive in 13 cases. Next-generation sequencing of the BAL samples was positive for adenovirus and Human parainfluenza virus in one case, respectively. During 1 month to 7 years of follow-up, no patient developed PB recurrence, asthmatic attacks, or chronic cough. Early FOB and BAL were effective in alleviating clinical findings, atelectasis, and airway obstruction. Serial FOB could be performed in patients with recurrent symptoms.Early FOB and BAL were effective in alleviating clinical findings, atelectasis, and airway obstruction. The vitamin D binding protein (DBP) with emphasis on its regulation of total and free vitamin D metabolite levels participate in various clinical conditions. The main goal of this study was to evaluate if there was any association between the DBP gene polymorphism at rs7041 and rs4588 loci and the prevalence of COVID-19 and its mortality rates caused among populations of 10 countries including Turkey. Positive significant correlations were found between the prevalence (per million) and mortality rates (per million), and GT genotype (P  less then  .05) while there was a negative significant correlation between prevalence (per million) and mortality rates (per million), and TT genotype at rs7041 locus among all populations (P  less then  .05). However, no significant correlation was found at rs4588 locus. GT genotype was found to confer this susceptibility to the populations of Germany, Mexico, Italy, Czech, and Turkey. The variations in the prevalence of COVID-19 and its mortality rates among countries may be explained by Vitamin D metabolism differed by the DBP polymorphisms of rs7041 and rs4588.High glucose (HG)-induced cardiomyocytes (CMs) injury is a leading cause of diabetic cardiomyopathy with little treatment options. Irisin, a new myokine, which is cleaved from its precursor fibronectin type III domain-containing protein 5 (FNDC5), has aroused great attention as an essential cardioprotective factor and glucose metabolism regulator but little was known on diabetic cardiomyopathy yet. Here, we aim to clarify the role of irisin in the HG-induced CMs injury. Neonatal Sprague-Dawley rat CMs were cultured in a normal or HG medium for 12, 24, and 48 hr, respectively before exposing to irisin. 5-Chloro-2'-deoxyuridine concentration The apoptosis level was determined by terminal-deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated-dUTP nick end-labeling assay. Cell viability was measured with the conventional methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay. Moreover, reactive oxygen species production was evaluated by dihydroethidium staining. Inflammatory factors, namely tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-6, interleukin-1β were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits.
