Enamel overlapping the cementum was recorded only in a very small proportion of the sample. A good understanding about the morphological variations at the cementoenamel junction area is very important and this area should be handled carefully during routine dental procedures such as dental bleaching, orthodontic treatment, placement of rubber dam and placement of dental materials. Oxygen extraction fraction (OEF) is a biomarker for the viability of brain tissue in ischemic stroke. However, acquisition of the OEF map using positron emission tomography (PET) with oxygen-15 gas is uncomfortable for patients because of the long fixation time, invasive arterial sampling, and radiation exposure. We aimed to predict the OEF map from magnetic resonance (MR) and PET images using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) and to demonstrate which PET and MR images are optimal as inputs for the prediction of OEF maps. Cerebral blood flow at rest (CBF) and during stress (sCBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV) maps acquired from oxygen-15 PET, and routine MR images (T1-, T2-, and T2*-weighted images) for 113 patients with steno-occlusive disease were learned with U-Net. MR and PET images acquired from the other 25 patients were used as test data. We compared the predicted OEF maps and intraclass correlation (ICC) with the real OEF values among combinations of MRI, CBF, CBV, and sCBF. Among the combinations of input images, OEF maps predicted by the model learned with MRI, CBF, CBV, and sCBF maps were the most similar to the real OEF maps (ICC 0.597 ± 0.082). However, the contrast of predicted OEF maps was lower than that of real OEF maps. These results suggest that the deep CNN learned useful features from CBF, sCBF, CBV, and MR images and predict qualitatively realistic OEF maps. These findings suggest that the deep CNN model can shorten the fixation time for O PET by skipping O scans. Further training with a larger data set is required to predict accurate OEF maps quantitatively. These results suggest that the deep CNN learned useful features from CBF, sCBF, CBV, and MR images and predict qualitatively realistic OEF maps. The purpose of this study was to compare the measurement properties of two versions of EQ-5D (i.e.EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-5L) in hypertensive patients in rural China. A cross-sectional survey was carried out in hypertensive patients in rural China. We compared the ceiling effects, redistribution properties, informativity, known-groups validity, and relative efficiency of the 3L and 5L and examined their agreement. A total of 11,412 patients were enrolled in our study. The mean EQ-5D index score was 0.84 (SD 0.21) according to the 5L and 0.86 (SD 0.17) according to the 3L. A good agreement was observed between the 3L and 5L. The overall ceiling effect decreased from 46.4% (3L) to 29.4% (5L). The Shannon index, H' improved in all dimensions when used 5L. When used 3L, the median responses of all groups were consistent with 5L across the three dimensions of 'mobility', 'self-care', 'usual activities', while the median responses were inconsistent for the 'pain/discomfort' and 'anxiety/depression' dimensions. The 3L performed better in eight comorbidities in terms of F-statistics and six comorbidities in terms of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUROCs). The 5L performed better both in terms of the F-statistics and AUROCs in age, education level, anti-hypertensive medication use. Taking all comparisons into account, we recommend the EQ-5D-5L for use in patients with hypertension in rural China.Taking all comparisons into account, we recommend the EQ-5D-5L for use in patients with hypertension in rural China.Fluoride is a beneficial trace element for human health as its deficiency and excess levels can cause detrimental health effects. In Sri Lanka, dry zone regions can have excessive levels of fluoride in drinking water and can cause dental and skeletal fluorosis. In addition to drinking water, traditional habits of tea consumption can cause an additional intake of fluoride in the population. A total number of 39 locally blended black tea samples were collected from a village where chronic kidney disease with undetermined origin (CKDu) is prevalent. In addition, unblended tea samples were obtained from tea-producing factories. The fluoride contents in infusions of 2% weight per volume (w/v) were measured using calibrated ion-selective fluoride electrodes. The mean fluoride content was 2.68±1.03 mg/L in loose tea, 1.87±0.57mg/L in packed tea samples, and 1.14±0.55 mg/L in unblended tea. Repeated brewing of the same tea leaves showed that over 50% of fluoride leached into the solution in the first infusion. An estimate of the daily total average fluoride intake via tea consumption per person is 2.68 mg per day. With groundwater in many dry zone regions in Sri Lanka showing high fluoride levels that exceed 0.5 mg/L, the additional daily intake can rapidly exceed recommended thresholds of 2 mg/day. This can add to adverse health impacts that might also relate to CKDu.The current study aimed to evaluate the harmful effect of chlorpyrifos (CPF) on the reproductive functions and fertility in male rats and to assess the protective role of zinc (Zn) in improving the adverse effects of CPF on male fertility. Sixty mature male rats were divided into four groups Group 1 The control group was orally administered with the corresponding dose of corn oil. Group 2 animals received chlorpyrifos (1 mg/kg, oral). Group 3 rats received oral zinc (25 mg/kg) daily. Group 4 animals received oral zinc treatment (25 mg/kg). CPF caused a significant decrease in the body and reproductive organs' weights, sperm count, sperm motility percent, serum testosterone, FSH, and LH. The CPF-treated group showed a significant increase in dead sperm percent and sperm abnormalities. CPF induced a significant internucleosomal DNA fragmentation and marked histological alterations in the testes of treated male rats. Conversely, co-treatment with Zn improved the reproductive organs weights, sperm characteristics, internucleosomal DNA fragmentation, and histological alterations of the testes.
