 Cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD) cause multiple positive results in seasonal in vitro allergy tests. False positive/clinically irrelevant results have been identified due to the binding of immunoglobulin E against CCD (anti-CCD IgE) when testing for pollen allergens. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of polysensitised serum samples and evaluate the impact of a CCD inhibitor/blocker in seasonal allergy test results.  A total of 4614 canine serum samples, submitted from July 2017 to June 2018 for seasonal in vitro allergy test via ELISA Fc-Ε receptor technology, were studied. Samples were grouped into polysensitised (group A) and non-polysensitised (group B). Polysensitised samples were retested after adding a modified glycoprotein plant extract (blocker). To determine the impact of the blocker for each allergen, results prior and post blocking were investigated in 96 randomly selected samples.  Polysensitisation to seasonal allergens was diagnosed in 818 (17.7 %) serum samples. The blocker eliminated the binding of anti-CCD IgE to allergen extracts (49 %) or suppressed the reaction classes (40 %) which are indicative of the presence of clinically relevant IgE. Our aim was to examine the parameters for adolescent athletes (n=121, 15.1±1.6 years) compared to adult athletes and age-matched non-athletes. We explored the effects of influencing factors on the echocardiographic parameters. Significantly higher E/A (p less then 0.05) and e' values (p less then 0.001) were detected in adolescent athletes compared to age-matched non-athletes' and also adult athletes' parameters. Significantly lower structural and functional right ventricular parameters (p less then 0.05) were detected in adult athletes. In adolescent athletes significantly higher right ventricular diameters, tricuspid S wave, right ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic area values (p less then 0.05) were found compared to the matching parameters of non-athletes. We found significantly higher corrected tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion values (p less then 0.001) in athletes compared to the non-athletes. Based on multivariate analysis lean body mass, body surface area, age and cumulative training time were proved as strong predictive factors of both left ventricular diastolic and right ventricular parameters. Supernormal left ventricular diastolic function and significantly higher right ventricular parameters are indicative of cardiac adaptation. Well-defined cut-off values should be applied to discriminate pathological conditions in the relation of the influencing factors. This study aimed to compare posterolateral fusion with transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (PLF + TLIF) and PLF only in terms of revision surgery rates and complications, as well as functional and radiological outcomes in lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) patients. Seventy-one patients (37 patients in the PLF + TLIF group and 34 patients in the PLF only group) who underwent surgery due to LSS between January 2013 and December 2016 were retrospectively investigated. Functional evaluation was performed by using the McGill-Melzack Pain Questionnaire (MPQ), Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scales pre-and postoperatively. We examined the studies for clinical logic and made pairwise comparisons of baseline characteristics and outcomes between trials. We used mathematical methods to assess whether the distribution of baseline characteristics was compatible with chance.  Between March 2015 and December 2019, Dr. Maged published 22 RCTs (  = 3,722). The median number of participants randomized per center per month was 32 (range = 1-89). Fifteen studies were either not or retrospectively registered, with one study registered 1 year after publication. One study was submitted for publication prior to the completion of the described study period.
