Crucially, preparing for the next response in N-1 was associated with increased contralateral mu/beta suppression, predicting the response time in the given trial. Our findings, thus, show that the WM processes for stimulus- and action representations can be clearly dissociated from each other with a distinct sequence of EEG correlates for encoding, storage, and response preparation. © 2020 The Authors. this website Psychophysiology published by Wiley Periodicals LLC on behalf of Society for Psychophysiological Research.AIM To evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of Participation and Environment Measure-Plus (PEM+) 2.0, an optimized version of a web-based, participation-focused, care-planning tool. METHOD Twenty-two caregivers of children aged 0 to 5 years receiving rehabilitation services, who reported dissatisfaction with their child's participation, had internet access, and could read and write English, were recruited for this 2-week, single-arm pilot trial. Feasibility was assessed through retention rates, completion time, percentage of care plans developed relative to caregiver reported need, and independent completion of PEM+ 2.0. Acceptability was assessed by the Usefulness, Satisfaction, and Ease of Use Questionnaire. Preliminary effects were assessed by two items on caregiver reported impact of PEM+ 2.0 on confidence for addressing their child's participation. RESULTS Eighteen caregivers completed at least one iteration of PEM+ 2.0; of those, 17 were female and 15 were 30 to 39 years old.ed PEM+ 2.0 as helpful for thinking about their child's participation and what can be done to improve it. Feasibility and acceptability results will inform PEM+ 2.0 optimizations. © 2020 Mac Keith Press. Most of the population does not prefer to consume brown rice because of its strong nutty and chewy texture imparted by bran and germ. The present study has been undertaken to investigate the influence of accelerated aging through microwave (MW) heating at a lower and higher MW power levels of 950 and 1,400 W for 72 and 91 s to observe the changes in physicochemical, texture, pasting properties, sensory attributes, and microstructure of selected rice varieties (Sona masuri and RNR-15048) stored as brown rice for 6 months. The results revealed a significant decrease in moisture, amylose, free fatty acids (FFAs) with changes in color (L*, a*, and b* values) in both the varieties treated at 1,400 W for 91 s. An increase in kernel elongation ratio, water uptake, and a decrease in cooking time and solid loss was noted in both the varieties. After cooking, the texture of both the varieties showed an increase in hardness with reduced stickiness at both lower and higher MW power levels of 950 W for 72 s and 1,400 W for 91 s compared to untreated brown rice with an improved porous structure when observed under SEM analyzer followed by better water absorption and organoleptic properties after cooking. The reduction in final viscosity has been noted in both the varieties at 1,400 W for 91 s due to the binding of FFA with starch. Thus, the MW power level of 950 W for 72 s and 1,400 W for 91 s showed the better results for short-grain varieties like Sona masuri and RNR-15048 stored as brown rice. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals LLC.BACKGROUND Nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO) is a condition that results in the overflow of tears (epiphora) or infection of the nasolacrimal sac (dacryocystitis). The etiology of acquired NLDO is multifactorial and is not fully understood. Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is the surgical correction of NLDO, which aims to establish a new drainage pathway between the lacrimal sac and the nose. The success of DCR is variable; the most common cause of failure is fibrosis and stenosis of the surgical ostium. Antimetabolites such as mitomycin-C (MMC) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) have been shown to be safe and effective in reducing fibrosis and improving clinical outcomes in other ophthalmic surgery settings (e.g. glaucoma and cornea surgery). Application of antimetabolites at the time of DCR has been studied, but the utility of these treatments remains uncertain. OBJECTIVES Primary objective To determine if adjuvant treatment with antimetabolites improves functional success in the setting of DCR compared to DCR alone. d wound healing. Other studies reported no significant adverse events related to the application of antimetabolites. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS There is moderate-certainty evidence that application of antimetabolites at the time of DCR increases functional and anatomic success of DCR when patients are followed for more than six months after surgery, but no evidence of a difference at six months, low-certainty of evidence. There is low-certainty evidence that combining antimetabolite with DCR increases the size of the lacrimal ostium at six months. However, beyond six months, the evidence remain uncertain. Adverse effects of the application of antimetabolites were minimal. Copyright © 2020 The Cochrane Collaboration. The International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD3) states "Disorders of arousal should not be diagnosed in the presence of alcohol intoxication… The former [alcohol blackouts] are exponentially more prevalent." A panel member of ICSD3, quoting ICSD3 asserts "alcohol intoxication should rule out a sleep-walking defense". This implies extremely strong support for a prosecution hypothesis (Hp ) over a defense hypothesis (Hd ). I use Bayesian methodology to evaluate the evidential probity of alcohol intoxication. The likelihood ratio, LR, measures the amplification of prior odds of guilt, LR = Posterior odds of guilt after considering alcohol intoxication /Prior odds of guilt before considering alcohol intoxication . By Bayes' theorem, LR = p ( alcohol intoxication, given H p ) / p ( alcohol intoxication, given H d ) . I use data from cross-sectional studies of sexual assault and prevalence of alcohol use, in college students, with data from longitudinal studies, and data from the epidemiology of parasomnias to evaluate LR (alcohol). LR ~1.5 or 5, depending whether alcohol does, or does not, increase the risk of parasomnias. The proposition of extremely strong support for Hp implies a LR ~1,000,000, so the proposition in ICSD3 is not supported by formal analysis. The statistical reasoning in ICSD3 is unclear. There appears to be inversion of the Bayesian conditional (confusing intoxication given assault, and assault given intoxication) and failure to evaluate alcohol intoxication in Hd . Similar statistical errors in R. v Sally Clark are discussed. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine should review the statistical methodology in ICSD3. © 2020 American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
